Dental cleanings at Perio Glow are designed to meet you where you are in your oral health journey. Your first visit is a more in-depth, 75-minute appointment that includes a full review of your health history, a detailed gum (periodontal) assessment, oral cancer screening, and clinical records, allowing me to create a personalized care plan just for you. This is followed by a thorough, gentle cleaning, stain removal if needed, and fluoride application when appropriate, along with tailored home care recommendations. At your returning visits, typically 60 minutes, the focus shifts to maintaining your results with ongoing gum assessments, professional cleaning, and personalized support. These visits are more streamlined and usually do not include a full comprehensive exam unless needed, helping you stay on track with prevention while respecting your time. These types of dental cleanings are usually for healthy patients who receive regular dental care at least twice a year and show no signs/symptoms of active gum disease. Time spent on each appointment is what determines how much your visit will cost and this is directly dependent on your particular needs.
Periodontal Therapy
At Perio Glow Dental Hygiene, if we determine that you are showing signs or symptoms of localized or generalized active gum disease, you may benefit from Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT). This treatment involves reaching deeper into the gum pockets to remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria that have accumulated over time and are contributing to inflammation, bleeding, and potential bone loss. This process, known as Scaling and Root Planing (SRP), is performed using special ultrasonic tips and hand instrumentation and is typically completed under topical or local anesthesia to ensure your comfort. For a gentle and effective approach, treatment is usually divided into two visits, treating one side of the mouth at a time. A re-evaluation is scheduled 4–6 weeks after completion to assess healing, compare measurements, and determine the next steps. Based on your response after treatment, you may transition into a maintenance program, require additional therapy, or be referred to a periodontist if specialized care is needed.
Whitening Treatment
Teeth whitening at Perio Glow Dental Hygiene is a safe, simple, and effective way to enhance your smile, especially if you have extrinsic staining from coffee, tea, red wine, or smoking. All whitening treatments are carefully supervised and tailored to your individual needs using appropriate concentrations of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. We offer two options: in-office whitening, completed in a single visit with 1–3 applications for patients seeking immediate results, and take-home kits, a more gradual and gentle approach using pre-filled trays that are easy to use and allow flexibility to pause and resume treatment as needed. Take-home whitening is often ideal for patients with sensitivity who still want to achieve a brighter, healthier-looking smile.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a simple, safe, and highly effective preventive treatment that protect teeth from cavities, especially on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars where grooves can trap food and bacteria. Sealants act as a shield, preventing cavities before it starts, and are particularly beneficial for children and teens as soon as permanent molars erupt (from 6 to 12 yrs old) Sealants are quick and painless to apply—no drilling or anesthesia is required—and can also be used for adults at higher risk of cavities. By providing an extra layer of protection, dental sealants help maintain healthy teeth, reduce the need for future restorative work, and support long-term oral health through prevention rather than intervention.
